Art Attic Closes its Current Location

September 9, 2011

The Art Attic

500 Purissima St # C

Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Dear Art Attic Enthusiasts,

After an amazing year and a half in this supportive community, The Art Attic will be closing its doors in its current location and stopping all classes. The crazy road of life has taken The Art Attic down a new path.

*We will still be offering Art Parties and commissions for personal and business purposes*

In a way, we are not closing, just altering our services. As many of you may know, Rose left last month to pursue a Masters in Art Therapy and to get married.  Emelia is gearing up to apply for graduate schools in the Bay Area as well as in Portland, Oregon, to further her education in running non-profit businesses and art facilities.  Unfortunately, full-time school does not leave time for much else.

There are two great resources I encourage you all to take part in, in case you are wondering ‘where can we go, now?’

1. Project Knew Groove (PKG) –  www.projectknewgroove.org is a non-profit organization, of which Emelia is the Treasurer and Manager of Studios.  Our mission is to “provide facilities and educational programs for artists of all ages here on the San Mateo County Coastside.”  We are currently raising funds to open a location which will offer both visual and musical outlets for people of all ages on The Coast.

PKG is what I have always dreamed of producing.  Now, with a dream team of artists, musicians, and like-minded Coastsiders, we are well on our way to creating our studio!  Think of it as The Art Attic in a much larger facility with many more mediums, including industrial arts, plus half of the facility being dedicated to the production and education of music. Please come and support our upcoming events:

Pumpkin Festival at Stone Pine Shopping Center

15 and 16 October 2011We will be in charge of a string of art and music activities, including an open mic – so start practicing!

Holiday Art and Gift Fair at Oceano Mall

3 December 2011 – Come and get your holiday shopping done while supporting local artists and Project Knew Groove.

Knew Groove New Years at Old Princeton Landing

7 January 2012 – Kicking off the start of 2012 with our 2nd Annual New Year’s Celebration to raise funds for our studio.

2. In place of The Art Attic, Meddle www.meddlestudio.com will take the current location inside of La Di Da. Meddle’s owner, Courtney Blaskower, is a local artist and Mom.  I am very excited to see her take The Art Attic’s place and fully support her business.  I encourage you all to see what she has to offer!

““Meddle Studio is a creative arts studio designed for artists of all ages and experiences to have a place, away from their responsibilities and routines, to truly let go and engage with their own creativity while connecting with others. Meddle offers studio space, arts and crafts workshops, and monthly exhibitions for local artists and enthusiasts. Our doors open Saturday, October 1, 2011. Interested in learning more? Please visit our website meddlestudio.com or sign up to be informed of our updates and offerings.”

- Courtney Blaskower

If you still have classes left on a pass, we will be open until Friday, September 23rd, 2011.  During this time we will continue normal class hours and, in addition, will be open on Fridays from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. so that those of you with class passes can finish using them up.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in making The Art Attic inside of La Di Da such a huge success. Seeing the amazing response from the community assures me that Project Knew Groove has a bright future ahead.

To all of my clients: Please stay in touch, and check out www.emeliawessel.com or www.hmbartattic.com for any commission or Art Party needs. THANK YOU, I will never forget the great experiences I had with you all!

Stay Creative,

Emelia Preciado

Every Family Has their Own Tree

The start of a new Art Attic commission. A coastal family came to us with a request to turn a family history into a work of art. Using a favorite tree from their front yard, Emelia has sketched out the beginning stages of their painting. Check back in soon to see the work in its next stages.

All That Glitters

Another example in the beauty of up-cycling. These bottle cap, and can ornaments look like something out of Macy’s! Add some “green” to your tree this year.
